INFORMIX-OnLine Workgroup Server and LiveWire Pro from Netscape
Posted in 1997
Many of you have asked about the Informix database with Netscape's LiveWire Pro, and using it for multiple purposes. I've consulted within Informix, and the following is Informix's corporate position (20th March 1997). Using INFORMIX-OnLine Workgroup Server with LiveWire Pro from Netscape ====================================================================== When you purchase LiveWire Pro from Netscape, this package comes with specific restrictions to the INFORMIX-OnLine Workgroup Server (OWS) license. Those restrictions are outlined below: -Use of OWS is restricted to applications developed using LiveWire Pro. -There is a limit of 32 simultaneous connections to the database -Support for OWS shipped with LiveWire Pro is through Netscape. This distribution agreement specifies, Informix is not the direct technical support source on Netscape packaged and sold products including OWS. Informix offers direct upgrades to the OWS license shipped with LiveWire Pro for customers wanting these restrictions removed from their license. If you wish to use OWS other than via LiveWire Pro, or if you wish to upgrade to OnLine Dynamic Server (ODS), you should purchase a standard Informix licence for OWS or ODS. Any other use of the database is a violation of your license with Netscape. If you need to purchase a new license (or have any other questions about your license), you should contact your local Informix Sales Office, or contact Informix at the address below, to identify your local sales office: Informix Software Inc 4100 Bohannon Drive Menlo Park CA 94025 USA Tel: +1 415-926-6300 Fax: +1 415-926-6006 Or visit our web site for field office listings, http://www.informix.com; the specific page location is: http://www.informix.com/informix/products/answers/answers/nihongo/offices.htm Please do not contact me on this issue.
