Re: Books on Informix DBA

I've followed this thread with some degree of interest, since I also am reading the DBA book. I was sort of surprised to see an author who seemed so touchy about criticism. Touchy and maybe, to use his own words, paranoid. Then I saw the postings giving the pointers to the USENET searches and ran the searches. Sure enough, the stuff that "billski" is posting in alt.pets.cats and alt.tasteless looks like classic flame-bait. The methods fit in well with the newsgroup invasion manifesto. Check it out for yourself. Then I found something that we all missed. BILLSKI WORKS FOR INFORMIX!!!!! I ran a finger wdg@informix and found that he was posting from a machine called "maddog.informix.<rest unintelligible)". On the off chance that the unintelligible is "com", I ran the following: ping maddog.informix.com. Sure enough, Informix has a machine named maddog, and it's not in the INTERNIC list so a casual viewer can't see it. So, the question is, why is an Informix employee lurking in this group, concealing his identity, participating in newsgroup invasions on other groups, and flaming others in the Informix community? Think it could have anything to do with Lumbley's recent vocal complaints about Support? Where do you work, Billski? Is this an official Informix technique for dealing with complaints? Does your boss know what you're doing? We deserve an explanation. Is the other netcom flamer, jsjr, an Informix employee too? Lumbley's problem is that he's not paranoid enough.
