GLOBALS declaration in Informix-RDS and 4J's
Posted in 1998
Hello everyone I'm using (with success) the following syntax in my Informix 4GL (RDS) source files and 4J's source files: GLOBALS "glb_file1.4gl" GLOBALS "glb_file2.4gl" GLOBALS "glb_file3.4gl" FUNCTION f1() ... ... ... END FUNCTION We are using the following products: - Informix 4GL (RDS) version 6.04.UC2 - 4J's compiler version 2.02.1e6l6 - Informix SE (Standard Engine) 7.23.UC1 - SCO OpenServer 5.0.2 We had no problems compiling and linking the above example (but we had to be careful to not repeat the same variable in the 3 globals files, of course...). Both Informix and the 4J's compiler seem to "concatenate" all the globals variable and we had no probelms... But is this method supported by Informix?... In the Informix-4GL Reference (for Version 6.0, volume one) they had no example like that. The 2 methods on the Informix Manual are: - only one "globals" file per 4GL module: globals "glb_file.4gl" - explicity declared globals variables: GLOBALS DEFINE var1 SMALLINT, var2 LIKE sometable.somecolumn, ... ... END GLOBALS So my question is: can I use several globals files: GLOBALS "glb_file1.4gl" GLOBALS "glb_file2.4gl" GLOBALS "glb_file3.4gl" ... or should I use only one globals files: GLOBALS "glb_file.4gl" Thanks in Advance! -- Jose Vitorino Barata Ribeiro SINFIC - Sistemas de Informacao e Consultoria, SA sinfic@esoterica.pt vribeiro@sinfic.hpv.pt
