Re: Informix SE 7.x: Does it support data types 'text', 'varchar'??

Al, Linux-SE engine does *not* support types: Byte Character Varying Text Varchar This is a major bummer. I just got my server up and running for an Image database and I didn't see this coming. I am now looking for a database that can handle the Byte datatype and have a Serial (or Linear) datatype that runs under linux. I am using an application that was written in Access and requires these 2 data types. When Informix was released (having worked with the Universal Data Server) I was very excited! Now that has cooled a little bit because of this let down. On the bright side it.... It was reported that no code changes where required to complete the port!!! Maybe UDS will be moved with Oracle hot on their heals. Again, If anyone knows of a database under Linux that supports serial datatype, byte datatype and has an ODBC interface please let me know. I don't have access to the source code of the application.
