Once you create an empty file with correct permissions
on the file system; you may change your archive tape
parameters via onmonitor. Ontape will still ask to mount
the tape (which is already mounted in this case). You simply
need to press enter and your empty file will start to fill.
Also it will ask to change the tape when your
tape size value is smaller than your archive size.
In this case you need to copy the file and then empty it.
But if you want these operations to happen automatically;
you may write an input file which you would redirect it
into ontape when executing (preferably within a script to
handle complicated actions) or deal with Onarchive.
Hope this helps.
