Keep in mind, having worked in a Pick environment quite recently I am biased on this topic. >===== Original Message From Tim Schaefer <tschaefe@bellsouth.net> ===== >Clownster, > >I will try to be brief, it is a difficult thing for me, but I >will try to keep this short. > >Thanks for your kind words. Indeed Informix/Ardent or Ardent/Informix will >be out of business soon enough if this tact is taken. I will agree that Ardent's database products are not in vogue, but claims about the death of Pick databases have been greatly exaggerated. My biggest concern when Informix purchased Ardent was that all focus on Ardent products would die. That would not exactly endear the current Universe/Unidata users to go to an Informix database. I hope with someone from Ardent at the helm, there is a chance that Informix's products will be pushed forward, and Informix will be able to still pick up a profit from Ardent's customers. Don't get me wrong, marketing is still a lost cause, but I still have some hope.
