RE: Informix 7.x and Fourgen
Posted in 1997
We went throuth this as well. We were a Fougen 4.10 development shop running against 5.XX informix. We had some problems other than the one discussed below. You will find that in 6.XX and high engines your code generation tools will not work. the problem is this the old tools would call the folowing code. database dbname This caused us a lot of problems, since in 6.XX engines and higher you need to do the following. close database database dbname What we ended up doing for the short term was to use the case tools against 5.XX engine and compile and run against 6.XX or higher. this works fine and we are continuing to do this. You will have to modify your Fourgen libraries to handle this problem as well. (Since init.4gl for fougen does this same thing.). We had some other issues but I don't recall any that we couldn't get around with some changes in our coding style. We ended up moving to Fourgen 4.12 where this problem is fixed and have not had any problem since. ( But this was a very painfull upgrading process even thou some people will its not) GOOD LUCK.....
