Question on BLOB stored in the table
Posted in 1997
Hello cdi folks,
When we specify a BLOB column to be stored
in the table, it stores the 56-byte description
with the row and stores the BLOB data somewhere in
that Tblspace. According to Infx documentation a
BLOB column occupies at least on page. My
understanding is that when ever row is inserted
with not null BLOB column, it uses one disk page
for the BLOB column apart from storing other
columns. Is it correct ?? If not how does it work
??
What I am facing is that I have a table with one
BLOB column, it has got 75 rows out of which 60
rows are not null BLOBs. When I give oncheck -pt it
reports only 9 pages used. I am wondering what is
it reporting ??
Please someone shed light on this ?? Any help is
greatly appreciated.
Thanks
