I don't want to drag this string out forever, but.... Coming from a recruiter that does attempt to read the mailings here..... Of course, this is YOUR place, and the way I look at it, if someone barged into the middle of MY conversation I'd be a little hacked as well. It is those who post repeatedly without keeping this in mind that bother even me, one of the "headhunters". But here is the deal: You people have skills high in demand. You keep abreast of the emerging technical stuff, and we keep abreast of the money stuff. To me, it is highly symbiotic. I know that I have some job opportunities where I can basically write the pay rate, that many would never know about unless I got the word out. I know I've been guilty in the past of stepping over the boundaries, and I stop doing what I was doing whenever someone lets me know that I have, but in the immortal words of Rodney King: "Can't we all just get along?" A number of the other unmoderated groups allow posting without any grief as long as you announce a posting as such.....than, as Mikey put it: "You can throw away whatever you don't want" Brian Batts Trying to comprehend Informix ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re: Recruiters tired me: How about comp.databases.informix.j Author: Jay Jacobs <jjacobs@starnet.lenfest.com> at Internet Date: 8/23/96 10:49 AM The 'control' thing is not a bad idea ... BUT, I'd like to add something else to think about. IF, and I say IF, I want to change jobs, the 1st thing I ask myself is, "Who can I go to to see if there's a job?" The answer is folks like US! In other words, all of US are the 1st to know when a job position opens. So, (what it is I'd like you to think about OTHER than recruiters is), wouldn't you like to be able to post a 'JOB WANTED' mail in this news group??? It has a lot of benefits like saving YOU lots of search time, like saving recruiter $$$$ (and maybe ask for some of that as a 'signing' bonus). And perhaps if you don't have a job maybe you can help by responding w/a ctc as to someone who does, etc., etc.. From my perspective, (and this is a personal one), I don't mind the head-hunter stuff. It's that crap like the $5.00 thing, and the XXX thing I got the other day that needs to be 'controlled'. Hey, just like the pony express, my address is public. I just throw away what I don't want. The recruiter stuff I can live with ... Just my opinion. Have a nice day. j Mike Segel <mikey@segel.com> wrote: >Alexander Ponomarenko wrote: >> >> Dear All! >> Some time ago I don't knew about meaning of words "Opportunity", >> "Jobs", "Recruiter", "Positions", etc. Now I know...
