Help please... ptmap failure: .....

I have just started receiving large dumps in my log file and I can't find the info in the manuals anywhere. I'm not sure if this is related to memory corruption or disk errors or what. It locks out my users from the system until I take the engine down and restart it. This is with On-Line 4.01. Can someone out there please point me in the right direction?
