Onbar - am I missing something?

The ISM manual says that ISM Administrator only runs on NT. The ISM Manual gives a detailed description of how to configure ISM through the administrator - and that's about it. The Onbar manual says you have to refer to the ISM manual before you can do anything. I can't find the bit that tells you how to configure your devices from Unix. Am I missing something blatantly obvious or is an NT client mandatory to run ISM and hence Onbar? Could someone give me a manual ref for that blatantly obvious thing please? -- -Andy Kent- Bristol, England Remove '.DontSpamMe' from return address to respond.

Hi Andy.
ISM Setup Procedure on UNIX(See also Informix Strage Manager 1-13)
The following C shell scripts is an example of a simple setup for making
ON-Bar strage-space and logical backups to disk files:
#!/bin/csh
# setup for ISM strage manager
echo "ISM setup begins"
# the user must edit these two lines to select
# appropriate disk locations for strage manager use.
setenv SM_DISKDEV1 /backups/dbspaces
setenv SM_DISKDEV2 /backups/logfiles
# start ISM server
echo "initialize ISM server. must be done as root"
ism_start_up -init
Impotant:To make informix the ISM user and thereby ensuring informix has
access to conduct ISM operations during daily routines, you must run the
following command after any ism_setup -init or ISM installation:
ism_add -admin informix@server
# create some devices and media # the ISM user. defined in ism_add -admin.
can do these tasks echo "create and mount ISM devices and pools" ism_add
-devices $SM_DISKDEV1 -type file ism_add -devices $SM_DISKDEV2 -type file
ism_op -label $SM_DISKDEV1 -pool ISMDiskData(? my environment is ISMData)
-volume ISMData ism_op -label $SM_DISKDEV1 -pool ISMDiskLogs(? my environment
is ISMLogs) -volume ISMData ism_op -mount $SM_DISKDEV1 ism_op -mount
$SM_DISKDEV2 echo "end of ISM setup"
And the following command.
onbar -b -w(Backup)
onbar -r -w(Restore)

You can now also use ISA (Informix System Administrator) a WEB based engine
management and monitoring tool to set up onbar.
