RE: dbexport limit

Slightly different topic, but you call it to mind. When you unload using
HPL or Pload you can unload to a pipe and get around the 2GB limit. I have
a lovely script which dumps XPS tables through a pipe into gzip (or flat
files). It even works some times. The basic procedure is:
create external table ........ datafiles ("pipe:n:/tmp/pipe.n".....
in a shell, cat /tmp/pipe.n | gzip > outputfile
insert into ext_table select * from internal_table
You can do the same sort of thing under devices in HPL.
cheers

You should be able to unload all tables greater than 2Gb (concurrently),
dbschema of the table(s), drop them then dbexport the rest.
The issue is a unix command that Informix uses - cant recall which one -
that is limited to a maximum value of 2Gb. This can be corrected, but as it
is only a convenience utility, it is unlikely to emerge from the bottom of
the priority queue.

2GB is the file size limit in Informix. Others might say that this is
an OS limit but it really is an Informix limit.
