Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

We are in the process of evaluating products suitable for archiving
invoice documents (in ASCII form) on write only media. Separate
keyword entries will reside in a few tables on magnetic disks.
An Informix Database will be used to search the keyword tables.
The search result will be used to retrieve the raw data stored on
optical disks.
So we are considering two possibilities:
a) using a purely conventional database (SE/OnLine) with pointers to
raw data on optical disks managed via device/file interfaces,
b) using Informix OnLine/Optical.
Does anyone have experience with OnLine/Optical? Which optical
subsystem do you use (vendor, product)? Any type of unconventional
application coding required (we use ESQL/C)? Does it work reliably?
Any hints are welcome.
