Problem with mutex wait nsf.lock

We are ruuning 7.3 on SCO 5.0.5. We have had this problem several times where the engine comes up, but you can't connect to it. It seems to be related to this mutex wait nsf.lock problem. We are not Infomix savy, so we are not sure where to look to resolve this.
