Hi, I'm trying to insert rows into a fragmented table across different dbspaces using ssh multiple sessions. The table is locked in "share mode" after the first insert begins. Can I "unlock" the table during the insert from another session? No other users on IDS instance. When can you issue "set lock mode to not wait"? IDS 9.4 Database - no transaction logging Table - fragmented by expression Lock Mode - Wait 600
Hi, I dont think you can unlock the table while inserting. Setting lock mode to no wait would result in other inserts not to wait but to throw an error instead. If you have no transaction on the db, there should be no locks !!??? Maybe the fragmentation leads to the lock. I have not a great experience in this. You could try setting the lock mode for the table to row. This allows generally multiple parallel inserts. The problem could be that you get a lock while updating some indexes. Maybe this helps, but you can run into a lock table overflow.
