ONUNLOAD / ONLOAD Questions
Posted in 2000
I am trying to use onunload / onload utilities to refresh a copy of a 12-13
gig database that spans multiple dbspaces (8 of them). Is there any way to
do this?
Database 1 on machine 1 defined to dbspaces ifxdbs01 - ifxdbs08
Database 2 on machine 2 defined to dbspaces in4dbs01 - in4dbs08
The databases are defined exactly the same except for the name of the
underlying dbspaces. When I look at the syntax for the onload command, I
do not see a way to specify more than one dbspace and it says that if I do
not specify a dbspace, it defaults to the root dbspace.
Second question: I was trying to write to tape with the onunload utility.
My shop uses CA Unicenter tape management and was continually getting error
16 saying the tape was not owned by the userid that had mounted the tape.
I was able to take CA out of the picture totally and write to the tape.
However, this is not a workable solution in our production environment. I
am able to use ontape backups and restores with CA without a problem.
Thanks for any assistance.
