Well,
you can use a temp table where you first select your data and apply your
report on data selected from the temp table.
select caseno[6,8] caseno_6_8, ...
from table
into temp ttt
select ...
from ttt
group by caseno_6_8
order by caseno_6_8
Now you can use in your report
AFTER GROUP OF xRec.caseno_6_8
