Please, no!

"...unless you know what you are doing", surely?
About the only thing I ever use onmonitor for nowadays is Status|Databases.

Also onmonitor has known bugs where it will change parameters
without telling you when it should not!
Description for Defect 112476
ONMONITOR WILL SAVE TXTIMEOUT VALUE IN HEX - THIS CAUSES IECC 4.0 TO ERROR
"VALUE FOR TXTIMEOUT CONTAINS INVALID CHARACTERS"
Workaround:
Change the value in onconfig using vi to decimal
Not fixed!
Description for Defect 110428
ONMONITOR SET OPT_GOAL TO 4294967295 IN ONCONFIG
Fixed in 9.21.xC1
Description for Defect 114197
PERFORMANCE PARAMETERS THAT DON'T HAVE A INTEGER VALUE CONFIGURED IN THE
ONCONFIG FILE ARE DISPLAYED WITH VALUE -1 IN ONMONITOR
The performance screen on onmonitor shows values of -1 for
intefer performance parameters that don't have a default
value configured in the onconfig file. You have to specify
a valid value on these fields to proceed, and you can not
leave them with a blank space, altough the message says that
you can.
FIxed in 9.31.xC4
Description for Defect 103838
ONMONITOR EATS SQLMUX ENTRY
Fixed in 9.30.xC1
PS Art:-
Description for Defect 118234
WITH ENGINE IN ONLINE MODE, CHANGING LTAPEDEV TO /DEV/NULL DOES NOT
AUTOMATICALLY FLAG LOGS "B" AS EXPECTED
When shared memory is initialized with LTAPEDEV = /dev/null
logical logs are flagged "B" when full or when logs changed by
onmode -l. If LTAPEDEV changed, whether via onmonitor orin onconfig file, to an actual device, the change takes
effect immediately. However, when changed back to /dev/null,
whether by onmonitor or onconfig, the flagging of logs as
"B"acked up does not take place. Subsequently, logical
logs can fill unless an ontape -a or ontape -s is performed,
or unless the engine is bounced.
Not fixed!!

All right all right, I have been properly chastised (sound of hand being
slapped) :-p
I now know better than to use onmonitor for anything but status.
