From Colin Mcgrath: * * * Are any of you Informix Gurus using the remote shell sometimes? * * I want to run a command on a remote machine, and get the return code * back into my 4GL program. << STUFF DELETED >> Try this: On local machine have a shell script like the following: # local_script - Do local processing s=`remsh cpu2 remote_script` return $s On the remote machine have a script like the following: # remote_script - Do remote processing xyz.4ge echo $? And have the RUN statement like this: RUN "local_script" RETURING return_code Otherwise, most other ways, you will be returning whether or not remsh was successful at executing the command passed to it.
