Corrupt Indexes
Posted in 1994
We recently had this interesting problem, can somebody enlighten us!!
Running tbcheck -cI dbname, produced errors reporting
corruption on few indexes.
In order to fix the problem indexes were dropped and re-created
but while working on a particular index the command "drop index xxx"
hung for about 30 minutes without eating any CPU and finally
aborted bring down the Online engine.
Informix Online was re-started and a second attempt was made to drop
the index. This time it reported errors:
319: Index does not exist in ISAM file
111: ISAM error: no record found
When an attempted was made create the index, Informix reported errors:
350: Index already exists on column
108: ISAM error: key already exists
I checked the SYSINDEXES table and there was NO entry for the index,
where as the query on SYSCOLUMNS reported:
colname pname
tabid 124
colno 2
coltype 256
collength 13
colmin 674377777
colmax 674836793
Obviously, some entries got hosed in the database catalogs
when the engine aborted.
Could this problem have been fixed correcting entries in the catalogs?
Also, which catalog tables is the index information stored?
Does anyone know the meaning "syscolumns:coltype" values?
Thanks,
