Lee, If you have images of average sizes of (6k) and your OS Page Size is 2K, I think your OS will need 3 reads in order to obtain the whole image. When using BLOBS you stored them in a BLOPSPACE not in a dbspace, the main difference is the flexibility of specifying the page size in the BLOBSPACE. Having Informix working with the reads, you specify in the BLOBSPACE a page size of 6K, in that way, Informix will need 1 read to retrieve the Informix, Not to mention the CACHE for BLOBS!
