RE: Problem connecting via ADO

Hi Phil, You can set the environment variable CLIENT_LOCALE and DB_LOCALE with an appropriate setting. You may also want to check the INFORMIXDIR in the environment is pointing to the correct directory. If a client application receives this error when it requests a database server connection, check that the client and database locales are compatible. They are compatible if a valid locale exists on the server computer with the name lg_tr.codeset@mod, where lg_tr (language and territory) and mod (locale modifier) are from the CLIENT_LOCALE and codeset is from the database locale (from the DB_LOCALE, if it is set, or as stored in the database) Feel free to use the alias if you still have any problem. I think we're further but are now receiving an error -23101. I can't figure out how to determine the Locale or how to set it. Am I on the right track? - Phil -----Original Message----- From: Sathyanesh Krishnan [mailto:satyan@us.ibm.com] Sent: Friday, August 01, 2003 5:53 PM To: Phil Homburger Cc: informix-list@iiug.org; owner-informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Problem connecting via ADO Hi Phil, Recently the ODBC driver name got changed since after IBM acquired Informix. >From "INFORMIX 3.82 32 BIT" To "IBM INFORMIX 3.82 32 BIT" You may need to incorporate the name change in the VB ADO connection string as well. So if you are using the old Informix connectivity you may want to use the old name, "INFORMIX 3.82 32 BIT". If you are using the new Informix connectivity Then the DRIVER name will be "IBM INFORMIX 3.82 32 BIT" Just replace the DRIVER part from the connection string as follow, it should work DRIVER={IBM INFORMIX 3.82 32 BIT}; Regards, Satyan. |---------+----------------------------> | | phil@lawbase.com | | | (Phil Homburger) | | | Sent by: | | | owner-informix-li| | | st@iiug.org | | | | | | | | | 08/01/2003 04:11 | | | PM | | | Please respond to| | | phil | |---------+----------------------------> >--------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------| | | | To: informix-list@iiug.org | | cc: | | Subject: Re: Problem connecting via ADO | >--------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------| I tried but get the same error message. > > Try "Driver={INFORMIX 3.82 32 > BIT};Host=sql_dev;Server=ONLINE;Service=sqlexec;Protocol=onsoctcp;Database=d atabasename;UID=username;PWD=password" > > It works fine for me.
