Hello: How do I declare a field to be of type blob? What is the difference between blob and sblob? Thanks... ;-) "And I'm happy, because you make me feel good, about me." - Melvin Udall ----------------------------------------------------------------- Mart'n Marqu's email: martin@math.unl.edu.ar Santa Fe - Argentina http://math.unl.edu.ar/~martin/ Administrador de sistemas en math.unl.edu.ar -----------------------------------------------------------------
We had blobs (Binary Large Objects) since level 5. These were the Byte and Text columns. In 9.0 we introduced the SBlobs which superceed the older Byte and Text columns. Internally there are many differences between the older blobs and the newer SBlobs, but probably the biggest user difference is that the UDT writter is able to use seek/read/write type functions which allow selective reading and writting of the SBLOB. This was not really possible with the older blobs. The column types for the 9.0 blobs are Blob and Clob. "Martin A.
