Istar hanging with -25519
Posted in 1993
We're running 5.00 online & istar on Sequent's running ptx 2.0.4. Every once in a great while, we get the istar log rapidly flooded with 25519 errors. This is undocumented per informix, but indicates the system problem of too many open files. A kernel parameter that comes to mind is NOFILES, which is already set higher than Informix has suggested that it needs to be. Interestingly, this has happened with only two users on the engine, and them not really doing anything all that interesting. Has anyone encountered this? At the point we have the problem, it is not even possible to kill -9 istar even after everyone logs out - we have to reboot unix. Thanks as usual... -- Scott F.
