Re: Split comp.databases.informix!

}There's been some talk via email suggesting we split comp.databases.informix }into more digestable chunks. I think this is a fine idea (I find myself }skipping more than I'm reading these days!) I'd like to give you an example of a well-organized conference facility, called "earwig", intended to provide a way for the ICL community to exchange information and ideas. The full help text can be found on WWW at http://trojan.oasis.icl.co.uk/docs/earwig The idea of sub-groups is implemented there, too, BUT another feature, in my opinion, is even more friendly and useful. Each item posted to EARWIG receives _a unique number_ and then is distributed to people. In order to follow the discussion on a particular subject you need to _subscribe_ to the given EARWIG item. Without subscribing, you will not receive any of "RE:" postings which don't interest you!!! Of course, it is possible to access the index of all previous EARWIG items, to subscribe to any of them later, or just to ask for their "history" (all replies up till now). Could a similar solution be implemented in our informix-list? What I would like the most, is to limit a number of "RE:" items that I receive every day... -- Hanna Kolodziejska <h.kolodziejska.pol0101@oasis.icl.co.uk>
