If anyone has restored to a separate machine using netbackup, could you please tell me what I am doing wrong. Here is the senario: I am trying to restore from a source host to a destination host on a seperate Solaris 2.6 machines. They both have netbackup and are clients of a third Solaris netbackup server. I copied the source ixbar.34 and oncfg._servername.servernum file to the destination machine, changed the bp.conf file on the destination machine to contain the class and client name of the source machine. I set the bar debug value to "9". When I try the restore it finds everything it is looking for, then hangs for 30 minutes before aborting with the following output from the bar_debug.log: 2000-06-14 07:36:18 4295 4248 barGetObject: enter obj_name rootdbs 2000-06-14 07:36:18 4295 4248 initObjDesc: enter 2000-06-14 07:36:18 4295 4248 initObjDesc: space name /hxy_shm copy type 3 obj type 4 status 1 2000-06-14 07:36:18 4295 4248 initObjDesc: return 2000-06-14 07:36:18 4295 4248 barGetObject: object owner name copytype copyid size resource type status desc info 2000-06-14 07:36:18 4295 4248 barGetObject: INFORMIX informix /hxy_shm /hxy_shm/rootdbs/0 3 0 960833438 0 0 R 4 1 2000-06-14 07:36:18 4295 4248 BSAGetObject: enter 2000-06-14 08:07:07 4295 4248 BSAGetObject: return 3 (0x3) 2000-06-14 08:07:07 4295 4248 barGetObject: bufferLen = 63488, numBytes = 0 2000-06-14 08:07:07 4295 4248 do_xbsa_error: enter 2000-06-14 08:07:07 4295 4248 do_xbsa_error: return 138 (0x8a) 2000-06-14 08:07:07 4295 4248 barGetObject: return 3 (0x3) 2000-06-14 08:07:07 4295 4248 barEndTxn: enter 2000-06-14 08:07:07 4295 4248 BSAEndTxn: enter with bsaHandle 0x00000000 and vote 2 2000-06-14 08:12:12 4295 4248 BSAEndTxn: return 32 (0x20) 2000-06-14 08:12:12 4295 4248 barEndTxn: return 32 (0x20) 2000-06-14 08:12:12 4295 4248 barTerminate: enter 2000-06-14 08:12:12 4295 4248 BSATerminate: enter with bsaHandle 0x00000000 2000-06-14 08:12:12 4295 4248 BSATerminate: return 32 (0x20) 2000-06-14 08:12:12 4295 4248 do_xbsa_error: enter 2000-06-14 08:12:12 4295 4248 do_xbsa_error: return 138 (0x8a) 2000-06-14 08:12:12 4295 4248 barTerminate: return 32 (0x20) 2000-06-14 08:12:12 4295 4248 do_phys_restore: calling bar_phys_close_restore(BU_ABORT, errtxt) 2000-06-14 08:12:12 4295 4248 bar_phys_close_restore: enter Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
What does the bar_act.log file show? Specifically, does it show a successful connection to the storage manager? What messages does the storage manager show? Does it show the start of a connection from the proper client? I don't know the error codes from bar_debug, but it looks like the system was trying to get the level 0 saveset of the rootdbs, which is normal.
