Web Datablade Language Gotcha
Posted in 2000
I wanted to pass along a discovery we have made here in the last few weeks about Web Datablade syntax and stablilty: The following type of web datablade code: <?MISQL SQL="some sql that returns a single value here;"><?/MISQL> <?MIVAR NAME=$test>$1<?/MIVAR> <?MISQL SQL="execute function webexplode($test,'');">$1<?/MISQL> where the variable is assigned outside of the misql tag works fine under: INFORMIX-Universal Server Version 9.14.UC6 web.3.32.UC4 but has stability problems under: Informix Dynamic Server 2000 Version 9.20.UC2 web.3.32.UC4 when the db server is under heavier load. Informix has repeated the problem and recommends you do something like the following to work around it: <?MIVAR NAME=$test DEFAULT=NULL><?/MIVAR> <?MISQL SQL="some sql that returns a single value here;">$(SETVAR,$test,$1)<?/MISQL> <?MISQL SQL="execute function webexplode($test,'');">$1<?/MISQL> Thomas Tatum http://www.koz.com/ 919.767.2129
