Although the fundamental principles of operation are surprisingly similar, the implementations are very different. I personally find Oracle a huge pain in the ass to use. There are no nifty tools to monitor it, so you have to buy BMC or something to do all the clever stuff for you. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. I agree, Informix is much simpler. One of the nice features which goes back many versions is the Unload statement with Select. Just plain text which Oracle and MSSQL don't implement nicely.
