: However, if you are installing an Informix tool which is older : (lower version number) than any other Informix tool you did install : previously, these ".iem" files are simply WRONG. The newer ones are : silently overwritten with the old versions. : It took me half a week to find that problem. I seem to be the first one : having this problem, because nobody at the german Informix support (the swiss : one was not present at the time) didn't know about that problem. And they : seem to like SCO more than my ISC ! : Hope this helps, You are not the only one to have encountered this problem. It is not stressed in the installation documentation, but is tucked in deep. If you read your installation documentation for the 5.0+ products from cover to cover you will certainly find it. I haven't seen it in the 4.x documents, but I have not looked very hard. We got the bad news from tech support after set explain suddenly stopped functioning. It means reinstalling the engine and I-Star whenever you get a bug fix for the sql or 4gl products that you are using. Which means taking the engine off-line to do a language upgrade. We have shortened the downtime by installing into a dummy directory and then swapping directories. The system administrator has also cpio'd the engine and istar so that he can just zap them into place and avoid having to sit by the floppy drive feeding it disk after disk. The sqlexecd daemon has to be killed and restarted when you make the swap. SCO is our platform here.
