How to free up space in sblobdbs

With great expectations to free up space in sblobdbs I updated BLOB-column data with zipped one. Actually space were not freed up. Can anyone help with some instructions, scripts, links? We have IDS 9.40
The original copy of blob pages are not physically released until the server has been archived because blob pages are not logged. Take a level zero archive and that should free up the deleted blob pages. Art Art S.
