It would make no significant difference when it comes to the work
involved which of these versions you upgrade to. Obviously you should
convert to the newest versions to have full support and the latest
functionality available.

:the 3.30 version is at its limits.

:Informix told me they provide no such tools (which I still find
:hard to believe), except for one which converts the database itself

I also had such an application but at the time i selected to redo the
whole application in 4GL. That gave such a vast improvment in
functionality available and the type of user interfaces I could
program I found it more than worth the effort. For reports I could use
some parts of the ace reports wrapped in a 4GL program. For the
informer scripts I rewrote everything, but conceivably you could
translate them into sql and execute them via dbaccess or better inside
a 4GL program.
Your application seems rather large though, so I can see your
reluctance to do such a thing.
I have never heard of any automated tools that could help you and am
quite sure there are non. Sorry, but the by hand approach seems to be
the only one.
This beeing the case you might also want to evaluate a full rewrite
using GUI tools like VB, Delphi or even Java.
:Is there any freely available or other professional product on the
:market which can convert the old 3.30 reports and other
:dbstatus/informer scripts into the proper syntax for later Informix
:versions? ie. Old Informix to SQL converter?
:
:Preferrably, I'd like to jump directly to the latest SE 7.x & SQL 6.x
:at this point and start using current products again.

I considder it a slightly bad form to ask for free advice and state in
effect you will never do anything in return, but...
