Server specs?

Hello Informix-users, I am currently evaluating the RDBMS-needs of our company (Simac in the Netherlands). We are about to upgrade our major business-software from "Triton 2.2" to "Baan IV". This is a massive ERP-application, and so a fast and reliable RDBMS will have to be selected. As it looks now, the situation will be as described below: - 350+ concurrent users that work with te application. Within 3 years time this will grow to about 500+. Each user will have 3 to 5 concurrent connections with the DBMS. - Application servers on 12 locations, connected to our WAN using 64k leased lines (in the future this will be frame-relay). - The application servers will also hold subsets of the data. These subsets will be updates every night. They will be used to analyse sales and production information. In the evaluation I also have to make an assumption about the type off hardware. Wahet would be a wise choice considering the load described above? We haven't made a choice about an OS-platform yet. Unix or NT would both be options.
