RE: onbar performance
Posted in 1998
Our OnBar throughput is about 5 meg/second when running a "whole system"
backup.
A dbspace backup to 2 tape drives is about 25% faster.
These statistics were taken from our SAP production database backups on
an IBM RS6000 model R50 with 4 CPUs and 1.5 GB of memory using ADSM
and IBM 3590 tape units. The Informix version is IDS 7.21.UD2.
The SAP database has 43.6GB allocated space of which 33.8GB is used.
The whole system backup took 110 minutes and the dbspace backup took 82
minutes.
Our ONCONFIG settings on this server are:
BAR_MAX_BACKUP 2
BAR_RETRY 5
BAR_NB_XPORT_COUNT 16
BAR_XFER_BUF_SIZE 15

Subject: onbar performance
I have the following: informix 7.23.uc4, hp-ux 10.20, hp-t600, 10 cpu's, 2
gig ram, informix shared memory is at 1.1gig, veritas netbackup
3.1.1(storage
manager), storagetek model # 9714 the drives are DLT7000 2 drives. The
storagetek box is attached to the t-600 via 2 FW scis ports.
Onconfig params: bar_max_backup 10, bar_nb_xport_count 500, bar_xfer_bufsize
31. The storage manager has multiplexing turned on and set to 10. This means
that netbackup is writing 10 streams to each tape drive.
The best throughput I can get is 4.89 meg/sec.
I would like to know what are some throughputs other people are getting? If
it
is a different configuration please specify.
Thanks,
