Table too large for single screen edit (4gl)

I am using 4gl and have a table with more fields than can fit on a single screen How do you handle multiple screens for a single table ? DETAILS BELOW Previously each page was accepted which skipped to the next page, when accepted on the last page the data was written away. The code now uses a control-e for forward and a control-b for backward. When accept is pressed the data is written away. This has a problem in that data typed to a field is lost, unless the field is exited from (using tab or arrow) or accepted. A short tern fix for this is when the control-e is pressed the current field is checked and it's data is collected get_fldbuf(). This is not practical for all fields and both directions as it will be too hard to maintain. My next idea is to force an accept before the control-e, control-b or accept. This will ensure the data is collected. The accept twice in a row will be used to write the data away. thanks Glenn glenn@itntl.bhp.com.au -- ///\\ BHP Information Technology, Newcastle, NSW, Australia. For a painfully long-winded (but very effective) way of handling this, see the code in the multiscreen archive at the IIUG web site. For a wonderfully simple way of doing it, get hold of Dynamic 4GL v3.00 and use the folder tabs feature -- you create a multi-screen form as in ISQL, and each screen becomes a tab as in some of the more complex Windows configuration menus, for example. A single input statement automatically flips between tabs correctly. The only snag is that D4GL v3.00 won't be available until mid-August. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
