Informix Net under OS/2 problem
Posted in 1996
I am trying to use an unusual combination of tools to build an application, due to unusual requirements: I am building a Delphi 1.0 (16 bit) Windows application that connects to an Informix Database running on a Sun, all in the Win-OS/2 mode of OS/2. I have installed and configured OS/2 Warp and Informix 5.0 Net (on the OS/2 box), but when I try to connect to the database on the Sun, I get the -932 error (something about network communication problem). The TCP/IP stuff in OS/2 Warp seems to work fine - we can get anywhere on our local network using normal TCP/IP tools (telnet, ftp, etc.). We have put the sqlexec (port 1525) entry in the services file, and we are still having problems getting a sample Informix client to talk to the server. The client we are using is ILOGIN.EXE (a really stupid test, but at least will let us know whether we have a connection. Questions: 1. Has anybody run a Windows 3.1 Informix remote client application under OS/2? 2. Does Informix have a version of Informix Net 5.0 for OS/2? (Based on their web site, it seems they have put 5.0 out of their minds) 3. If the answer to the previous question is no, then should we be able to connect using the Windows driver? How? 4. Am I out of my mind? Keep in mind that the development tool and its database access method (BDE, not ODBC) have nothing to do with the problem - we cannot get a 'pure' Informix client to connect to the server. Any help on this problem would be appreciated. If possible, please send mail with any thoughts.
