Sybase vs oracle vs ingres -Reply

Raj's orig query at the bottom. DBMS Mag or Database Programmaning and Design (Can't remember which) had a good comparison on Parrallel processing between Informix and Oracle in their last edition. The basic difference appears to be that Informix is internally parrallelised and Oracle is not. I.E. Both systems will run a large number of small queries fast against multiple processors, but for large queries Oracle will still run the entire query on a single CPU, whereas Informix will parrallel the query components against multiple CPUs. So either is good for OLTP, but Informix can be presumed to be faster for DSS.
