I am trying to install Informix IDS 9.40 on Red Hat Linux Enterprise version 3. Kernel: 2.4.21-4.EL I am using IBM Unix bundle Installer. Installation failed for every product (ISA, IDS...) with messages like: Installing Server Administrator bash: /root/.bashrc: Permission denied 19366 blocks perl/bin/perl: error while loading shared libraries: libdb.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Informix Server Administrator installation failed. Installing IBM Informix Dynamic Server 9.40 65316 blocks bash: /root/.bashrc: Permission denied bash: /root/.bashrc: Permission denied What to do?
Had the same problem. Had to do with library updates for 8 and 9 so I found the libraries to support backwards compatibility. Here's what I did: Went to the following link and rpm'd the required packages for this library. I used http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM compat-db-3.3.11-4 RPM for i386 Ensure all required libraries (I think there are 3 others if memory serves) are installed and re run the installation. That was all I needed. FYI - I received the permission denied errors as well with no after effects.
