filemakerpro & images??? If not what???

How well does filemaker pro handle records that include a image? I know that each file is limited to 32 megs. Since scans tend to hog memory it seems to me that this memory constraint would be a problem. I work for a company that has a library of about 5000 images that we would like to be able to search using keywords. And then be able to look at the images found on the screen. The quality of the image is not important but again with 5000 images and growing it seems to me that FMPRO is not the right tool? Im beginning to think that a marriage of a database system and a graphics management program might be the solution. this would enable me to use the search capabilites of a database without having to bog it down with the scans. ( put the text infomation in the db while storing the scans elsewhere) but which ones???? Now we are using macs with FMPRO but I have heard of a few different graphics management systems. Any opinion or advice on an appropriate system would be greatly appreciated as I have a presentation on Wed. -- Chris clang@panix.com
