Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Mike Vogeleer had created a database without a buffered log and asked how to turn logging on afterwards. Serguei Ivantsov and Bashar Chalabi suggested ondblog (for example ondblog buf database), followed by a level 0 backup. Pablo Herrero and Fabrice Dubosc said ontape can do it during a full backup using the -B option (ontape -s -L 0 -B database). Solved.

Hi,
is it possible to turn [buffered] logging on, after the database has
been created.
Normally, logging is turned on, when the database is CREATEd:
CREATE DATABASE foobar WITH BUFFERED LOG;
But I created the database, I forgot the "WITH BUFFERED LOG" clause.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike.

Yes of course!
You can turn logging on with command "ondblog buf database_name". After
which you have to perfom the whole level 0 backup of your system
"onbar -b -w".

Possible. depending on your version, 'ondblog' will do it. Otherwise,
'ontape' will do it.

Yes you can turn on or off logging, with ontape command and only when
running a full backup.
example:
# ontape -s -B stores7
will run a full backup and then will turn logging on on database
stores7.
See the usage of ontape command.
