Guys,
I have played with this and it works.
In one place in the manual it says you have to start all over again.
Then in another place it says you can switch the backup server back to
secondary. (Yes Art, I have told them to change the manual and they
will one day).
The trick I found to get this to work is that you dontdick with the
secondary. As soon as the primary machine is ready and before you
start online on primary you do:
onmode -d secondary (server_name) on the secondary.
It will then log that it is waiting to connect to the primary. Then
you start informix on the primary.
All chages in the logs will be transfered from the secondary back to
the primary.
NOTE: This does not work if the log position on the primary is not
exactly the same as when you allowed update on the secondary. In that
case you get the "server type incompatible" message.
This is test on 7.14 NCR and 7.23 HP.
