Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Hi,
I have made backups of level 0 with ontape -s and then select the 0 option.
Now i want to make level 1 backups.
But it fails because it says: "no level 0 backup made", but i did this
already...
Does anyone know how ontape "remembers" so that i can make level 1 backups
again?
This problem started after a informix update... (not by me!)
Thanks,
Marc Groeneveld.

Versions prior to 7.30 maintained a single record in the reserved pages that
recorded the last level 0 date and time, and the same for level 1 & level 2
if they are later than the higher level. IDS 7.3x+ maintains a more
extensive history. You can access the older versions archive history in
onmonitor and the newer ones using onstat -g arc.

An update AFTER the last level zero? When you upgrade the history records
are wiped as the engine assumes that the archives you have from before are
useless except to restore the the prior version in an emergency. You MUST
take a level 0 ASAP after an upgrade.
