Re: Connecting to different DBMS's with isql

Herschel,
You can try the following. Telnet to your STORE123 machine. Type the
command "tbstat -c " This command prints a copy of the configuration
file to the screen. You should probably redirect the output to a file.
There is a entry in the configuration called DBSERVERNAME. This is the
name that the "...@dbserver" is looking for. You might need to set up a
sqlhosts file which matches the DBSERVERNAME in order for connectivity to
work. Email me back if you need help doing this.
Also if after executing the "tbstat" command, it returns "command not
found" then you are probably running SE. You can type the command
"set" to see the environment variables. Find INFORMIXDIR, go to that
dir. There should be a subdir called "release". In that dir is info
on the Informix products installed. This should help alot. Also the
configuration file which is printed by the "tbstat -c" command resides
in the $INFORMIXDIR/etc dir.
Hope this helps,
Tracy
p.s. Forgive the earlier blank reply. My finger slipped while typing.
