Hi, We have informix database on Sun Spark server. I was wondering if there is a way to connect to that database from a client machine using Microsoft Access. Vijay Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
Yes, you can link Informix tables to your Access database via ODBC. www.merant.com is one vendor that makes ODBC drivers, I think they offer a free evauluation version as well. I don't think I would want to own a computer that had the word "spark" anywhere in it's name :-D vb_patel@my-deja.com wrote: > We have informix database on Sun Spark server. I was wondering if > there is a way to connect to that database from a client machine using > Microsoft Access.
Informix I-Connect comes with ODBC drivers. I-connect is shipped with every engine product. Its also downloadable from intraware. Install it on your client. Make sure your client can ping the server. Configure Informix setnet32 test ilogin for connectivity run dbaccessdemo(7) on your dbserver first) Once this works, then create an odbc source and you should be good.
