Appears to be coming from DOS or Windows. This may be in Informix-Link (a useful little service to have access to, for anyone who doesn't already). Ok, enough for the I-Link plug. Tech Info Article #4630 Title: "Cannot Write to DEV AUX" Error with FTP PC/TCP 2.3 "Cannot write to device AUX" Error with FTP PC/TCP 2.3 --------------------------------------------------------- When an application uses 5.01 Informix-NET for Windows in combination with FTP PC/TCP Version 2.3, the following error will occur upon the first attempt at database access: Cannot write to device AUX After selecting the "Cancel" button, the application will run. The problem is that FTP's Version 2.3 WINSOCK.DLL is attempting to log all API calls by writing them the the AUX device. At this time FTP is claiming that Informix must be making an API call that explicitly requests this logging. However, this call does not appear in our source. This issue is still being researched. For now, the problem can be resolved by making the following entry in system.ini: [debug] OutputTo=NUL June ---- June Tong Informix Asia/Pacific ---- ---- On-Loan Engineer Singapore ---- ---- Location-du-jour: Bangkok ---- ---- junet@informix.com (65) 298-1716 ----
