The ISAM error is the meaningful one. If your isolation level is Committed Read or above, any attempt to read anything that someone else has locked will fail. The weird thing is that it appears to be happening on a temp table. The proper way around it is to use tbstat -k to find what it is you can't read. You'll have to change LOCK MODE to WAIT for the wait to stay on long enough for you to see it. See if you can find out who's holding the lock, what the lock is on and why, then see if you can change *their* program so it doesn't lock a whole table or lock it for so long. The cheap nasty way is to put SET ISOLATION TO DIRTY READ in the program that is returning the error in which case the problem should go away, but this could mean you'll read "phantom" (uncommitted) data. akent@cix.compulink.co.uk (Andy Kent) ------------------------------------- +44 117 974 2815
