Log files full

Hi: I'm a newbie in Informix, so this question might be very obvious to most of you. I'm creating a database with no log in a tablespace other than root. This tablespace has a log file associated. Anyways, after creating the database and creating/dropping/etc.. some objects, I get 15:29:30 Logical Log Files are Full -- Backup is Needed and my database goes 'offline'. I don't know how to solve this, so the only way for me is to reinstall the database. Why are my logical log files getting full?? I told my database not to use logging!!!! What can I do to recover my database? It might also be that the root tablespace is out of logging space. Can anyone give me some advice here? Thanks a milion. -- Regards, Tony
Even in a database with no logging DDL statements and system event
records are logged. You do not have enough logical log files if these
filed your logs. You can either run ontape -a or run onmonitor and
change LTAPEDEV to /dev/null (don't use an editor to change the
ONCONFIG or the change will not take effect until you shutdown and
restart, only onmonitor can change LTAPEDEV in memory).
