dd *is* supported! (was: How to Backup Raw Devices...)

In IDS 7.3 backing up with dd *IS* supported!
See the chapter on "External Archive" in TFM "Backup and Restore
Guide" version 7.3, available on line at
http://www.informix.com/answers/english/pdf_docs/73ids/4346.pdf
For more detail see the "7.3 Features" class, which includes a
chapter on this new feature, including an exercise using dd.
