Regardless of where Informix is trying to market, let's all take a moment to ridicule M$. The marketing department there ballyhoos their TPC benchmarks, "scalability", etc, etc. The Marketers are gunning for the high end database market. When we look at the actual product, we find all sorts of fun stuff for developers (including some interesting security loopholes), as well as a "need" for Internet Explorer to be installed on the server. I never knew how much I needed MS Wallet to run my mission critical systems. And let's not forget all of the other bit players in the "minimum install" if IE4, like MS Chat, and Netmeeting. Oh, wait! I just finished logging on to the server! Time to take another tour of Active Desktop! Woo-Hoo. :-) ~Meee * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet's Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free!
