Calculate Number of 'oninit' Processes
Dear Group,
Is there a formula for calculating the number of 'oninit'
processes that will be spawned for a given Informix instance?
The number of processes appears to be dependent on the
configuration of the instance. Is there a definitive formula?
I am using IDS with UDO (formerly IUS - version 9.14.UC2) on
a SUN SPARCstation5 running Solaris 2.5.1

n oninit-process for cpu-class (depends on onconfig-parameter
NUMCPUVPS)
+
1 adm oninit-process
+
1 lio oninit-process
+
1 pio oninit-process
+
n aio oninit-processes (depends on onconfig-parameter NUMAIOVPS)
+
1 msc oninit-process
+
n shm/soc/tli oninit-processes (denends on your network
sqlhosts/NETTYPE parameter).
the minimum number of oninit-processes is 7 (1 cpu +
1 adm + 1 lio + 1 pio + 1 aio + 1 msc + 1 shm).

Add to Markus' count, since Avi is using UDO, the DataBlade VPs, I
honestly do
not know how these are configured.
