Performance problems after suspending logging

Greetings, we observed a dramatic performance decrease when loading a table (load from file...) since we stopped logging with ontape -N (OWS 7.2, Sinix 5.43) We had to suspend logging because the logical log files became full due to a long transaction. (the load file being aprox. 1 MB) Could someone comment on the nature of this problem, please? Thanks Andres Dipl.-Inform.
